Snowshoe Mountain
There are few better places to spend your family vacation than in Snowshoe Mountain, West Virginia. As one of the premier four season destinations, Snowshoe has a wide variety of activities from skiing, snow boarding, horseback riding, mountain biking, golfing, shopping, and dining. The possibilities of having fun and unwinding are substantial in this fun and beautiful place.
There is the free Hareline Shuttle that will take you to anywhere on the mountain, one of its stops is at the Black Bear Crossing complex.
Skiing and Snow Boarding
Snowshoe Mountain has arguably some of the best skiing east of the Rockies. With 234 skiable acres, 60 runs, and 14 chair lifts, it's easy to see why. Unlike most ski resorts, Snowshoe Mountain's resort, village, and the Black Bear Crossing House are at the top of the mountain. This unique construction means there is no waiting in lines to get your first ski of the day. You can start skiing from the house's back door and then catch the Powerderidge chair lift once you reach the bottom, and it will bring you directly back to the complex where the house is located. Alternatively, you can take any chair lift to the summit then ride the free shuttle to the Black Bear Crossing complex.
More information about the skiing and snow boarding can be found at Snowshoe Mountain's website: www.showshoemtn.com
Lake and Family Fishing
Paddle boat rentals and family fishing are available just a quick ride down the hill on the ski lift.
Guided Fly Fishing Trips
8 rivers begin in Pocahontas County and their headwaters are some of the finest trout streams in the east providing anglers with an amazing fishing experience. Even if you have no experience, these tours are the perfect way to learn.
